I have an external radiator for my custom loop and I have the arctic p12 fans that are daisy chainabke but thry are pretty tough to stick next to each other and still have a mess of wires.

I have seen many fans with magnetic connectors for daisy chaining that done need cables for it.will the fans fit on a 3x3 fan radiator? Even if I just connect them in each row will there be anything stopping me from having them be touching each other?

Arctic solution isn’t the best one, but that’s the reason they’re affordable. Start to add cosmetic touches and the price will increase. I really like the solution of the D30 from Phanteks. The T30 isn’t bad, but you should be able to zip tie any excess cabling w/o the screws holding it to the radiator.
Also be careful about how many fans you daisy chain together. Most ports will be limited to 1A or 2A. The B650E-F, not an old motherboard, yet 1A all around. Same for B650E-E. MSI is a bit more generous. When the fan starts will be the worst scenario and put more strain on the controller.

Problem with the magnetic click together fans
Is the cost
9 x al120 set me back around 200 quid
Though those all run into a controller box
Which has sata power
So no worries how many amps fan headers are
A powered hub/controller would be best idea probably

I think thermalright do some
And probably will be most cost effective
Though got no idea what model number they are

Will they fit flush on a 3x3 fan grid though? As far as I can tell they all have something sticking out at the side to make them connect together so won't be flush on the radiator like the arctic fans I've got.

I have mine connected to a powered hub with a molex connector. So don't need to worry about motherboard. Had it like this for over a year now. I'd just prefer the cables to be reduced.

My al120
The connectors that go to the hub
Are on the end not the side
So yes can't see why they wouldn't go side by side
In a group of 3 x 3

Edit
Interlocking fans i am aware of
There's likely others
Lian li,corsair,ek,thermalright and even seasonic
Msi and possibly coolermaster
Phanteks

Apart from price the only bad thing for me is the amount of rgb thry come with. I do like the look of the seasoning ones though. I think after Xmas I may buy 9 of them.

Could I connect all 9 fans in the grid so i only have to plug in one cable? Like zig zag them across? Or will I just have to connect them in 3s? 3s wouldn't be so bad I suppose, a lot tidier than what I have now.

No rgb
Lian li uni fan p28
Most other interlocking ones yeah do have rgb

Don't think can connect all 9
That may be down to the amount of leds you would have
Think my al120 you can connect up to 4
Though not 100% certain
