Daisy-chaining WiFi routers and security

Yes it would leave a way into the main network. I know with cisco kit you can have a mix of encryption methods and they can have different access for the different wireless groups. So you can have tight restrictions & throttle wep usage.

I doubt those netgears have the option. Maybe investigate, DD-WRT custom firmware to replace the firmware on your netgears?

There might be someone else here that has more experience with dd-wrts ability's.
 
Yer tricky problem.

Ideally you would want a vlan so that anything connected through WEP is isolated from everything else, I have no idea what home hardware supports vlans though.

You could also probably put everything on the WEP on its own subnet, im not too sure how effective/doable this would be though.

*subscribes to thread* will be interested to see good solutions for home style hardware.
