DAli epicon 2 and 6?

yeah that's a small room I'd probably get speakers no bigger than 5.25"/6.5" standmount, probably won't need a sub- or if you do, high pass your speakers to tweak the low end (in case you get rising bass) then get a small sealed box sub where you can EQ it.

Update so far :

So my guy has got a pair of F701's from Fyne in for me and I'm just running them in now. Wow, they are a lot bigger than the 700's and even while running in, sound fantastic, but I can tell already that as soon as I turn them up to any decently loud volume it's just too much for the room again. *sigh* Think I'm going to have to accept I'm in a very small room and act accordingly. The 700's were fine for the room, but just lacked the 'punch' I was after.

So, I'm just going to pick up a pair of the Fyne F1-5's he has in the shop to compare this weekend. A small cabinet again, but I'm hoping for a bigger sound than the 700's and they have some sort of built in EQ for the treble? That might help since my partner found the 700's a bit bright (screechy she said  )

Try bi-wiring the Fyne's. When you bi-wire the Fyne's not only does it improve clarity, but it also lifts the top end, this will allow you to run the speakers at marginally lower volume and take the edge away from the bass. The other trick if running single wire, is connect the speaker wires to the HF binding posts, again it will push the edge towards the top end.

The dial on the F1's is a presence control and gives adjustment over the frequencies in the 2.5kHz -5kHz range.

Your quite lucky your able to try at home, I've been buying on-line and hoping things will sound ok in my room.

Freakbro,

I have now fitted grounding cables to the 5th terminal on my F502SP's. I'm grounding back to the signal ground on my A-S1200 that uses a floating balanced ground. I actually phoned Fyne Audio and spoke to one of the directors about this first.

The grounding cables have removed a little distortion and improved clarity. If your still evaluating the Fyne Audio speakers try running some speaker cable back to the amp's GND connection and see if you also find an improvement.
