OK guys why do i get such bad performance in games ???
my computer spec is.

Intel c2d e2060 1.8Ghz over clocked to 3.1Ghz (temps = idel 45c unload 75c ish)

GeIL 2GB PC2-6400C5 800MHz Vale Ram (ram is overclocked to 833Mhz)

HD4850 512Meg (stock)

GigBitye p965 DS3.

vista 32bit

i play eveything in high at 1280*1024

played hellgate london and it played at 50/60 fps with a lot of randam slow downs and jerks

GTR evo takes forever to load and when it dose it runs slow and jerks as soon as i try to turn a cornor.

Even in windows when installin a game somethimes i cant do anything till its finshed

That's deffo a Hard Disk bottleneck.

..and as anant_shah94 said, I've heard microstutter is worse for ATI cards. GTR Evo plays smooth as butter on my 8800GT.

Edit; Try turning down the draw distance for GTR.

well iv got 2 hdds and the first one with windows on is an old maxtor ide lol

my 4850 realy **** be 2/3 times faster then the 8800GT so realy i shudnt need to turning down the draw distance

Have you tried reseting the overclock, voltages etc to stock.

If that sorts out the random jerkyness then thats the issue

If it doesn't you can look for something else

AD

iv messed up here iv just ran ORTHOS for an hour and 10mins well i did my shopin and the temp got up 68c not 75c

Buy a new monitor.

lets not i like my monitor and the res is more then i need to make games look good

No, he needs to fix his computer first. No point in a fancy monitor if his computer's running like a bag of nuts.

OP, reset your clocks to stock and defragment your HDDs.

i reset my clocks and tryed hellgate and it ran worse (30 to 50fps even it 7 and 13 fps plus still get randam jurks) then it did clocked up so i dont think its the overclockin or the temps

Can you HDTach your Hard drive please?

And, if you listen to your HDD during game play, does it thrash like a monster? (accessing all the time)

when its loadin its loud and sounds like a monster but in the game well im playin its fine plus when it jurks iv not notice it accessing the hdd but this probly is the reason it runs so bad in windows

reset the bios completely and run it standard to check if its a setting.

And when you do overclock only take the fsb of that motherboard up to 399mhz, any more and you hit a memory strap and actually do the opposite of progressive speed!

iv allready reset it only things iv change is the fsb and voltage and the ram rato to 2 to 1 so its runnin at 833Mhz. My mobo wont let me do 1 to1 to run it at 800Mhz thats all the overclockin witch is much better then when its at stock. The fsb is at 335*9 no where near 399

so i realy need help im sure its ment to run faster then it is

do a 3d mark, check if your system is 'on par'.

I agree with those above who have mentioned the IDE HD, when you can get a Samsung 320GB F1 for 30 notes there really is no excuse. Treat yourself, and upgrade the slowest part of your PC.

Is that on par?

i am going to get a new hdd but im getin a new case and more ram first
