Damage - how was it done?

Alrite ppl,

Could you have a look at these photos and tell me if a car scraped it or someone deliberately done it with 'something'. It was parked on a street.. scratches were down to metal so I WD40ed it to stop water getting in and rusting.

Vaseline would do a good (better) job keeping it rust free in the mean time

I dont see how that would be, I can only think of some reaction with the paintwork prehaps but Ive used it on rust spots myself and not noticed any harm
and I left it months before actually repairing the bodywork properly.

Its no worse then spilling petrol on your car as you fill up imo
