Bought a pair of Q acoustics 2010i speakers and one has a damaged tweeter (appears damaged in transit.)
Looking for a fix first rather than a faff of posting back etc.
It's quite noticeable when in use and have done a 5000hz audio test (YouTube vid) and the tone is quieter and muffled compared to the tweeter of the other (undamaged) speaker.
Question is... is this likely repairable?
I've seen the vacuum cleaner suck trick amongst other but they focus on the actual dome bit, this is mostly the edge which seems to pushed in and damaged also.
Could try the vacuum or stick tape trick but don't want to rip it out!

Mind boggles why you don't just send it back, deffo worth the faff

Definitely. You don't know what the extent of the damage is, maybe there is even damage you can't see.

In answer to your question, you could most likely return its shape. However, that area will always be weaker and may impact the sound now or worse, later after some use.

Thanks all for the quick replies!
They were fairly cheap 2nd hand so thought I'd consider a fix and ask first.
A new tweeter is more expensive than the speaker cost.
However, given the risk of possible underlying problems and making things worse if I try to fix it, I think I'll request to ping 'em back!

Ta!

If a new tweeter is more than the cost of the s/h speakers, then have you thought about stripping the speakers for parts and selling off the bits? You could end up quids in.

BTW, this isn't transit damage. Well, not unless the sender despatched them really poorly packed or with no box and just a poly bag for protection. Transit damage is rarely confided to such a specific area. It's usually the whole box that gets damaged due to a drop or being stood on.

I used to feel bad for RS, I went to demo speakers (which I now own) where kids would see the shiny tweeters on the shop floor and press them in lol
