Damaged front audio port on case

The front audio port on my case no longer detects a connection. If I hold the jack I've inserted at a specific angle then it does detect a connection however. I assume it's either broken or misaligned. Is there any way to realign it? I'd rather not use the rear mobo ports as they are quite awkward to get to with how my PC is set up. Alternately are those usb to 3.5mm sound-cards any good? Thanks

Depends on what case
But you can buy replacement front io for some of them
Yes should be able to get to the front io
Might just be a contact needs bending a bit if you're lucky

Alternatively. 3.5mm cable extenders from the rear to the front of the case. You will only have to reach around the case once then.

What's the best DIY method to adjust the contact and would I adjust it from the outside of the case or the connection inside it?
I would open up the case to get access to front io for a better look
Depends on the case
But usually removing front or top panels allows you to get to front io
Which is normally screwed on so can remove the io pcb to get better look at it
Guessing when you plug into it there's 2 copper contacts that bend/flex
One could be stuck
Was a common issue with IBM t4* power Jack's back in the day that one contact didn't spring back out when removing the jack
You could see that when looking into the port and a bit of wire with a hooked end cured it
Which case is it?
Last time i replaced io pcb I think was around 10 quid or so
But will depend which case whether you can buy them
