I've had my new car two months now, its a '97 Ford Mondeo, Was in good condiition with nice Alloys, Full Mot and FFSH.

Had an accident last week and smashed the front in, Turns out from a neighbour i need, New bumper, radiator, subframe (probably) wishbone and drive shaft.

He seems to think it will take at least a day to do it, and he won't have the time. plus cost of the parts #200+ from a local ford breakers.

Whats the best bet then. should i sell the car as it is, or what should i do?

Got it off a friend, long story, but yes, she give it to me.

She's had the car for 7 years, and really wants to me to keep it, as she loved it.

Yep, i will give a few a call in the morning cheers.

Just wondering what other options beside repairing it. I doubt anyone would want to buy it in its current state, it starts ok though.

For example its about #300 per day labour, plus the parts, plus spraying, plus the wing is pushed back, we're talking 700+ imo, plus transporting it to the garage, gonna be 800+ imo,

You could break it up and sell parts individually―I think that's what Tesla did when he wrote off his Mondeo, and he ended up making loads more than the car was worth as a whole :)

I though about that, we talking like gear box etc? I wouldnt be sure of how to dismantle, could i sell parts and ask buyer to dismantle?

What about the shell?

Why wouldnt they come and look at it though, i mean who would spend 300 quid, i expect people to look at it mainly

If you expected people to come look at it before buying, why have a Buy It Now option in the auction since that just invites someone to end the bidding early?

Just seemed like a good idea, and to allow people to look at doing BIN, Ah well, gonna phone the winner in the morning.

I've only been driving a year, my first car a rover 214 cost hundreds to fix after HGF that must have been there prior to buying, The winning bidder lives 174 miles away, seems a long way to travel for a knackered car without even phoning me first. The wheels are just what a neighbour told me, i have the paper work from the RAC and was told its likely just rad + bumper+ tracking on wheels which is what i wrote on eBay. I know very little about cars, so advised viewing and posting pics, The camera cost #80 about 5 years ago, just a crap 1.3mp cheap camera, always use it for eBay.

Surely they wont pay for the car without even contacting me, seems very strage, hence why i thought it may be time wasters.

The RAC towed it away from the scene, Do you think i pushed it home?

He left a note saying problems where he's highlighted front end, the wing is out, its a fraction of a CM, so i don't think you would ever see that in the picture.

I clearly stated i wanted people to view, and then therefore make me an offer, gonna email him and tell him the someone thinks there may be more damage, i was just as surprised as you lot are it had sold when i got in last night.

@ Xplo - thanks for the first friendly reply, shame there are no many others like you.

Well just phoned the number, and its an employment agency, and the address doesnt match the one she had. Told you it sounded wierd the way this person bought without any contact. An no replys to any emails. Brilliant.

The guy just phoned on witheld number, said his internet is playing up, said he will have it collected on friday if its ok

He had a forign accent really strong, his name is szilvia bogdan.

\Should i go ahead, aslong as i have the money cleared first, yes, is it safe?

I know about ebay scam's etc, he is phoning back soon as i had to go pick my gf from work, he will phone back in 5 mins,

So this is safe, as long as i send off the v5 and have the money yes.

I'll explain when he phones me back, that there *may* be more damage, and ask him if he is happy. See what he says, he said he would phone before 9 as he started work then, but no call yet.

Just checking that this isnt a scam as far as anyone can tell,

I told him everything for you guys that worry, told him the front wheels were out, and it would need some big work to fix it,

He said he was happy with all of that, he is polish and it would be sent there to be fixed, he would get any spares from another mondeo, ok so thats cleared he knows about the state.

He is planning on picking up on friday, bringing cash, so its safe for me to sell, dont want to get scammed,

He knows the full state of the car.

He should repair it, or whatever, i've told him the works, he is shipping to poland to get it fixed, so its up to him.

I said why did u BIN with no questions i just said, wanted to get in quick before it was gone, ah well, im happy with 300, and he has a car he said he is happy with, so we're all happy.
