Hi Folks

After installing a OCUK SSD yesterday yesterday I attempted to load Win 7 Pro which is a 7 Pro upgrade disk, I'd already installed Vista, when it came to update to Win 7 the PC wouldn't / couldn't recognise there was a disk in the drive.

On closer examination through a magnifying glass I realised there's a small split formed in the centre of the DVD

Fortunately after about 10 attempts it loaded, however IMO it's only going to get worse :(

Anyone know if it's likely that MS will supply me a replacement DVD, I've no objections to sending my current copy + box + paper back?

I have tried to make contact with MS through their suppt line but keep getting cut off.

Also in view of the fact I managed to fluke load the OS yesterday, I've tried to copy the disk to a new DVD but I get stewed over with the digital disk rights or something similar.

Can anyone suggest anything please. Other than upgrade to Win 10 or Linux

Thanks

Thanks folks. Are these torrent files safe to use? I know this is going to be a dumb ass question but what do I need to down load them with.

:o TBH I'd feel happier getting MS to replace my existing one.

It's an age problem

Thanks Guys keeping in mind mines an Upgrade disk, will these work with my current serial #

=======================================

I thought I'd found a download availability on allegedly MS's site

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/soft...nload/windows7

I inserted my serial key & was offered Win7 pro. But only the French or Korean edition

Have you thought about upgrading to Windows 10 ?

Upgrade your machine now. Download the official Win 10 image and then do a fresh install.
you should have a valid activation.

or have you tried to rip the contents of your upgrade disc to your PC then transfer to a USB ( Formatting the USB correctly for this to work ) then there would be no need to download any Win 7 image.

Thanks, yep, been there with Win10 as I said in Post (1) I'm not inclined to want Windows 10 or Linux. I'm in my 70s & can't be a5$ed again faffing around with yet another OS :D

This old Dawgs stopped doing new tricks :D

Ok..

Try ripping the cd to your hard drive. Worth a shot.

Thanks, I'm afraid my DVD reader / writer isn't recognising the disk at all any longer, in the event that mine is super sensitive, I'll try the same on my Daughters L / Top IMO the disk is creamed though :(

Oh dear, sounds like you'll have to download a new image.

Microsoft used to sell Media kits for their OS's but it wasn't free.. I am pretty sure they no longer do it as they are trying to go as medialess as possible.

Hi, the link you supplied, the top one of the above accepted my serial number Inc of the correct DVD version, however the only download options were either French, or Korean sweet diddley squat in English

I fail to understand why that is. I'd have thought my serial would have been uniquely an English version
