So, I know that Season 5 just started a while ago in the US and I've decided to watch the first few episodes from Season 1 to see if I like it or not. It appears to be a bit too 'serious' for me and I'm not sure if I should continue. I've watched 4 episodes thus far.

Does anyone here like it?

It's one of my favourite shows :) Just brilliant. Writing, acting, story - all top notch.

It does get better as the season progresses (each season is a well defined story), however it does remain very "serious". If you don't like the first few episodes then the show may not be for you.

I can't wait to see how it all wraps up :)

Thanks Duff. I'm upto episode 8 and really want to see how it pans out.... it's interesting. I'll decide whether or not to continue after I finish the first season :)

For what it's worth, I found all of the series to be pretty compelling. They each have their quirks, but there haven't been any "turkeys". If you like the first series then you'll probably like the rest as well :)

Ploughing through season 5 atm , god its so good, and so watchable. Shame its ending :(
every season has been brilliant and really well written.

Gonna miss Ellen and Paddy squaring off at each other but good that their ending on such a high.
Weirdly I also love the fact that its shot in NY in Autumn/Winter - gives it a nice earthy setting instead of sun drenched america all the time as per most shows.

Definitely one of my top five shows of all time :)

It has such quality through and through - writing, direction, and most of all - the acting! I'm glad that it was wrapped up the way that it was, I thought it was a fitting end to the show (no spoilers!).

I also agree about the Autumn/Winter New York setting. It does fit the atmosphere of the show nicely.

I already watched this when it originally aired but have been watching a few episodes each night on Netflix lately and i'm still really enjoying it the second time round. Glenn Close is fantastic in it.
