Yeah I'll get a quote tomorrow before making any descisions, with my young driver excess of 600 may be worth paying 800 or so to get sorted.

Just furious as I've been so careful and never bumped anything in 5 years! (Been hit once by van man but that got sorted), and I'm getting punished here the same as if I had gone and hit someone.

Anyway one down three to go, fixed the mirror myself this afternoon, probably saves £50

Sorry to hear about your car as i had a similar thing happen to mine just 2 weeks ago on a saturday night too.I actually caught mine on cctv but with not being able to see the number plate clearly the police said we can't do anything and didn't even come out to the call.

Bear in mind if your car is supposed to be garaged or off road at night then you might have problems claiming on insurance.

Mine is down as on the street, as with 2 parents cars insured at the same address I didn't fancy claiming to have three on the drive!

I don't even want to get it fixed yet as I'm moving away from the main road in August, imagine shelling out 1k for the fix and it happening again later!

Why couldn't it have happened to my focus under a month ago before I got the TT!

Hmmm, a recommended body shop guy has quoted me 550 for a new sill (only 52+vat new!), fixed rear arch and replacement door fit if i supply the door, all painted.

So at 100 for a door from Paras breaking site thats 650 all in.

Probably better than claiming even if I wait the 3 months to claim that's going to be a 500 excess and a claim on record, and I believe it still affects your premium a bit even with protected NCB?

You could try replacing all the panels on the side that may be cheaper then fixing them

Yes you're right, it was suggested in the thread I might like to wait 3 months until my insurance policy is renewed and protected, but this is maybe a little too much like insurance fraud for me and there's always a risk they'd bag my £1400 and cancel the policy if the damage looks old.

Thanks fo your help I didn't think about looking for completed items, the body guy said it's easier to replace the door and sill than repair, and the rear arch will fix easily, as otherwise its a full rear 1/4 panel. (although TTparts site has one for £100, at the wrong end of the country!)

Cheers for the offer of side skirts but the new sill is only around 50-55 +vat before painting so I'll stick to that for now.

And that first link of the blue door is the passenger side I'm after!
