I've got a fairly small back garden but behind the fence is a nature trail, perfect for foxes, however i don't want them in the back garden any more. They've made holes in both fences and make a racket at night, especially now that it's mating season.

There is no food left out and all the rubbish is in a tall wheelie bin. I've done some searching and there appears to be two main methods of deterring foxes, ultrasonic and powerful smells.

Has anyone had any experience of this or knows the best way of getting rid of the buggers? I'm not up for murdering them, shooting, poisoning or applying mustard etc.

No idea how to get rid of them, but i know how you feel.
Ironically, i have lived on the outskirts of Inverness beside the woods and seen loads of wildlife in my garden (deer, hedgehogs, lizards) but never a fox. I'v now moved to the middle of glasgow and have 2 foxes nearby which frequently fight in our front garden :(

They sound like someone getting raped.

...not that I've urm... ever heard that.

Ahem.

Strong smells you say?

I guess there's only one thing for it: order a vindaloo!

My grandparents have tried to domesticate a fox ever since it limped into their garden. He gets the leftovers from dinner and a chicken carcass after its been used to make a stock.

Invite Lord Snooty and his pals around

I believe that they are very partial to a bit of fox hunting. Maybe they can shoot all the birds as well, that will stop the dawn chorus.

They will of course destroy your garden and the remaining bits of fence, but that is a small price to pay for getting rid of troublesome wildlife ;)

I keep chickens, ducks geese and turkeys, so I understand that there is nothing worse than a bloomin fox to be in yoru garden. (Ofc I do, I live in somerset.)

Killing them on your land could be illigal, however ;)....

When I do it shoot them (Easy, quick, little stress(Not that I care)) and then either throw it on a very very hot roaring bombfire in my field of put it by the side of a lane and then run it over a bit so it looks like its been hit by a car.

If you're not up for shooting it, you can use something bu tI can't remember what its called, we use it for badgers. It causes some sort of cancer?
Anyway, I'm pretty sure its illigal now, but it bloody well works!

Used to be able to buy lion urine in South Africa to put in gardens. Kept cats a long way away. Not sure if it would work on foxes - maybe need wolf urine.

AS people said, they make an incredibly disturbing sound, I live in London, with a sunken tube station at the bottom of a long garden, can barely hear the tube but foxes are a constant noise problem. If you use the tube you can spot them almost anywhere along the tracks overground.

THe worst thing is waking up to a sound not unlike a slasher flick right outside your window. No real idea how to get rid of them either, even if there was a deterrant in our garden, you can hear them in any of a couple dozen gardens either side of us so wouldn't help all that much.

I've a vegetarian, don't agree with breeding animals just to be killed, but I'd have no problem with someone going around getting rid of a pest problem. Council have been asked for, well, decades to do something about it though and they refuse to do anything.

Strong male human urine works for badgers, foxes + cats. Forgot to mension that..

Not advised if you like your garden to smell not like ****.
