Damn, got a NIP

Banning people on OcUK is effectively pointless because all of the serial posters come back under different usernames and everybody knows who they are.

Really? Just a single one? I got one years ago and it didn't make any difference, and just tried a quote now through confused.com and again it didn't make 1p difference in the quotes.
I used to have a CD10 and an SP30, and both together was more of an increase than just the CD10 I have now.

It is an offence NOT to tell them who was driving BUT if you go to court with the other "possible" driver and tell them that it could have been either of you. But you dont know. You'll prob be let off.

I know someone who WAS let off

And I know someone who wasn't let off.

It's depressing that not identifying the driver is an offence with an even bigger fine/point attached to it.

A friend of mine once got off on the basis that he was at a house party at the time and up to 50 people could have had access to his keys, plus it couldn't have been him as he had witnesses to say he was unconscious in a bathtub at the time of the offence :D

I just got this:

Them city cameras love catching us townies out :p

Careful, Burnsy is about to kick you out of the "law abiding camp".

I'd always considered myself "law abiding" but i once broke the law on "Wanton and Furious Pedal Cycling". Nobody else was around, nobody even saw, but my conscience weighs heavy on me every time i mention that i'm a "law abiding citizen". :(

You utter ****.

I used to like you.

I thought I got done by a mobile unit earlier this year. I swear I was doing 85 on the A27, but I didnt hear anything.

I did see the bloke operating it step back and look round to the front of the camera, like they way when something doesn't work your first instinct is to look at it, so maybe I got lucky :)

Maybe he'd left the lens cap on!

I got snapped in Derby doing 40 in a 30. I was offered and took the SAC as I didn't want any points on my licence after 27 years and also my insurance would have gone up by about 80 quid a year until the points were removed (and that's driving a Micra at 44 yoa). I'm sure it would have hurt more next year when I get the Skyline back on the road.

Actually it wasn't a waste of half a day. Even the people who obviously didn't want to take part and sat with their arms folded looking out the window got something out of it, everyone thanked the guy on the way out. Certainly opens your eyes to a few things, and the sort of serious bother you could actually end up in due to speeding.

Annoyingly I genuinelycan't remember whether my wife or I was driving at the time but as I'm the registered keeper I'll have to put myself down.

Why on earth would you do that? You tell them you don't know who was driving and ask to see the photos so you can try and figure it out. If you can't, neither can they and you walk away due to lack of evidence.

It's a fair point but because of the little matter of a large fine and even more points if I don't advise them who it was. But you make a valid point which I will consider, thanks.

I'd just take the points. An SP30 makes no difference to insurance, the fine is cheaper and you dont need to give up a days holiday. You're generally a careful driver with an otherwise clean license so there's no fear of a totting up ban. You'll lose them again in four years anyway.

Sorry you are completely wrong it can add hundreds on to your premium.
