had some money left in my account from the christmas bonus and thought i'd have a bit of a splurge,

so initially went for a 50" HD Sony RP LCD tv. (yeah its a mouthful)

then was sitting at my desk thinking an Xbox 360 will look really good on that , so finally took the plunge.

the question i'm asking is firstly what is the best AV lead to get for this (got the core pack) but want to take advantage of the HD glory.

the tv has 1 HDMI, 2 Scart, 1 COmponent input.

also any games that i have to have beyond PGR3 and FN3

Cheers all.

Happy but Broke

and thats all just from the cash left over from your christmas bonus  nice choices. How much was the tv? if u dont mind me asking

yeah well i did nothing with my christmas bonus but pay off overdraft and cc bill so i felt i owed myself something

plus i'm buying a flat soon, and if i put it off until then it'll just end up being furniture.

and Hi-Fi is infinitely more important than a bed.

T.v. is around £1100

1) MS dont have an HDMI lead as yet for the 360, so use component. You will get this lead if you buy the Premium pack.

2) GRAW, Kameo, Burnout Revenge, Condemned, COD 2 and DOA4 are all worth a look.

That Sony 50" LCD Tv was £1100 surely not !

Where from?

Make sure you get an official MS Component cable for HD. I've found most of the other cables to be pretty dire in comparison. Gameplay have the official MS cables in stock at the moment for £19.99.

Nice purchase btw :)

Oh, and game-wise, get GRAW for a tactical shooter / online play and DOA4 if you like beat-em-ups. Simply ownage!

Not sure how much you have left over to splurge on the cables to connect the 360 with but from www.Hificables.co.uk you can buy a Component cable made by Monster for about £40

Not sure what improvement you'd see over the standard MS one's but for that setup I'd be inclined to give it a try.

BTW...thats a lovely TV seen some running & if I'd had the money & the space in my flat I'd have got one myself instead of my current 32" CRT but oh well them's the breaks :(

Hope you enjoy it.

aye sony have basically passed a standard RP signal onto 3 LCD screens

hence the RP LCD

Rear projection LCD

Yup one lcd for each of red, green and blue into a projection unit and onto the screen.
DLP uses a digital light processing chip (with millions of tiny mirrors on it and a colour wheel) into a projection unti and onto the screen.

Both give great pictures although I personally found the 3LCD version not as pleasing to my eyes as the DLP - however I am sure that if I'd been allowed to play with the settings it would have looked better.

Must get my get around to having look at these these dlp's you get a lot inchage for your money.

What i alos like is the fact it displays natively 1280x720 so displays 720p don't understand why LCD's have 1280x768?? When the standard is 720

What ever happens to those 48 pixels? Black bars or the imnage get oddly scaled
