Since the near the start of my first year at uni destroying my printer accidentally when drunk im now in my final (4th) year and realise i need a printer again. Can someone find me one thats not too expensive and wont need cartridges that cost a bomb.

Ive found this for £45 (free delivery) but it looks a bit big

Ive got no idea about printers though :(
 
Do NOT get a lexmark...

They are really good... till the inks run out.

Get a cheapy epson and couple it with an ink injection system off the bay.

BARGAIN!

errr, whats an ink injection system? find me an epson with one for cheap please :)
 
It isn't something done by epson.. in fact I'm sure they hate it.

Look for Epson R320 and it is called a Continous Ink System.

found it for £65. looks like a big mother. all i want is something that printers black ink pages and bit of colour (just for graphs and stuff like that) not really for pictures
 
Why not pick up a Samsung Laser ? I think they cost around £70, but it will pay for itself before that toner runs out. Its much more cost-effective than inkjets.

What will you be printing... lots of text... or colour diagrams photos... artwork etc???

Also does your uni not have printing facilities????

Amazing value for money with the Continous Ink System, a friend of mine uses this for his business and saves him an absolute fortune, print quality is also good.

mainly black text with a bit of colour

yes, but its expensive and im only in uni a few hours a week
 
what i used to do was print the odd colour page on the uni colour laser printers (as the quality is far superior to any of the inkjets you could buy) and print all the b/w text on my samsung laser which i picked up for about 55 quid!

if thats an option then theres loads of cheap b/w laser printers out there :)
