Damn Nvidia Tray Icon keeps returning

Hi guys...

I keep un-checking the "show tray icon" in the Nvidia control panel yet the damn icon keeps coming back on it's own. Sometimes within minutes of disabling it !.

I'm currently on 311.06 (and Win7). Nvidia updates make no difference & no other Apps cause this problem !.

Anyone else seen this & know a cure ?

Can't say I've ever seen this, as soon as I untick the option it is gone and doesn't return until the next time I install drivers.

Have you done a malware search as there was a virus mentioned on here a few times in the last few days related to an bitcoin miner using GPU resources and it may be related to something similar

Try a clean install. If that don't work go into control panel and uninstall all drivers then go into your C drive program files manually delete all nvidia folders then use a drivers sweeper. Re-install all drivers. That should sort it.

It will be of interest that this issue also exists on another machine with a clean build !. Also looking at similar post on the internet this issue has been noticed in the past and was cured by a driver update !. Good work Nvidia...

Already set to 'hide icon & notifications'. Makes no difference. Scanned PC for virus & malware, zero.

Uninstall 'Nvidia Update' from Control Panel.

Looks like a driver update (314.07, clean install) fixed my problem. Will have to do on the other PC too....thanks Nvidia !?

Scratch that !, came back a few hours later. Uninstalled the Nvidia updater too.
