Bought an oem i7 920 (amongst other things), but on opening the package, I've remembered oem ones often don't come with a heatsink. I'm going to be putting an EK-Supreme waterblock on there, but want to test things on air first just to make sure it's all working ok.

What's the cheapest air cooler I can get for it, or should I just get stuck in and fit the waterblock? (obviously leak testing first before I put any power through it)

Just go straight to water block. coolers for teh i7 are stille xpensive. Unless you can get a stock cooler of someone who has upgraded. but that will still take a few days to arrive. by then you could have water up and running.

yeah, I think I'm gonna go straight to water.

I also want to lap my chip at some point, but it's a bit intimidating. What are the chances of me destroying it during the process?
