hi all, i got a laptop just a few days ago and now that its been up and running iv had time to bench mark it and its darn quick

the spec in my sig scores a super pi 1mb score of 43.summink seconds.
the pentium-M 730 (1.6ghz) lappy with 256mb ddr2 533mhz ram scores 47.656s.

thats darn quick considering the clock speed disadvantage it has over my xp-m setup.

also will bench again in a few hours, my 2gig ram kit for the lappy has arrived so this lappy will have sam ram as my desktop pc so it will be a better test.
also will see if the dual channel setup on the lappy gives any performance advantage.

ahh, but will the laptop see a benefit from the dual channel ram? since the fsb is 533mhz and the current ram is 533mhz so im assuming a 1:1 ratio. cpu z says that the cpu is running on a 133fsb that is quad pumped to 533mhz.

to benefit from dual channel ram setup doesn;t the fsb have to be higher? otherwise it will be like the old AXP cpus on nforce 2 boards.?

ok with 2 gigs of ocz ddr2 533 4-4-4-12 ram in the lappy the super pi 1m score is 46.531 not bad at all for a 1.6ghz cpu.

although running in dual channel seems to have made only a very slight difference. guess the fsb is the limiting factor now.

wonder if the integrated gfx which is an intel chip on pci-e bus would benefit from the dual channel ram setup. shame i did not run any gfx card test before the ram upgrade.

can't adjust any timings in the bios since the advanced settings section in the bios is locked out to me. acer did a number on these laptops and limited what can be done in the bios.
