Bit pathetic imo, I see kids on these cutting down lanes and alley ways and over green belts.

i've seen you do a lot of these HTML style quotes in your posts, but please, for the love of god, a terminating tag has the slash INSIDE it!

Banning anyone under the age of 21 might be better, all them young people robbing our taxes and parading around with their endless irritating optimism, yep ban the scum.

I'm assuming that was meant as a sarcastic post?
Personally I'm just asking people to not break the law and if you do be prepared to accept the concequences of it.
Then I'm also asking the sub-question I guess on why some people feel that people should be let off crimes because somebody else considers it a minor issue.
The argument being it's only a minor issue when it doesn't directly affect you.

I'm not asking for a blanket ban on anything - there is a legal and an illegal way/place these things can be used.
Use them legally and in a legal location then go for it - I'm all for people having fun, it's what I live for.

Quick, call the police. Someone is having some fun!

just what i thought when i saw the thread title
edit - i used to have a yamaha DT50 when i was 12, It was so much fun, that was until a complete and utter **** of a chav stole it off me. Oh and it wasnt a chav.

I had great fun learning to ride it with my dad, using the gears and stuff (was in a 125 frame) I think i would still remember how to ride it from 7 years ago. -1 down and 3 up.

To the good times. you grumpy old farts!

hehe - went out on one of these the other day - we were going to go gokarting, and the place had these as well as karts - hilarious fun, and the amount of spills made them so much better than karting!

(Lot more aches afterwards tho!)

The police round my way will take it off you and cut it up whilst you watch!! I have one but only use it at work (private property) and as i guard an empty print works its huge and the closest building is a funeral directors.

I have one of those :D The difference here is that I only ever ride it at organised events which are usually held in indoor/outdoor karting centers. They are only chav if you nip about the streets and pavements on them but they are 100% fun when you get into it at a karting center :p

Here is a little cut 'n' paste from a minimoto website that I'm a member of ...

Hello :p

Sorry to bring up an old thread, I just thought i'd give you guys a quick insight into the avid minimoto RACE community that exists, like Old No. 7 here says, there are trackdays and national events that are organised in a safe and proper enviroment that people with these bikes can go to. Just because you see a load of chavs riding them up and down your road doesnt give you reason to assume its the minimoto's that are causing the pain. If all the chavs started using PC monitors as melee weapons you wouldnt blame the monitors would ya?

Although saying this I think the problem is mostly the chav riding it, but i do agree that these small bikes can be misleading in terms of looks, they can be mistaken as a toy that you can just hop on and ride around as you like (very tempting for the peanut inbetween the chav's ears)

Cheers

It's like a sort of age related transport progression.
Crawling>walking>running>mini motorbike>motorbike>car.

I think what you meant to say is:

Crawling>walking>running>mini motorbike>scooter>car.

It always makes me laugh when I see a chav on a scooter, trying to look all hard while he put-puts past sounding like a demented lawnmower.

I am not saying it is fine for them to break the law or ride the bikes on the roads/paths.

what I am saying is your "crack down" simply means they have to find something else to do and seeing as all the parks, playgrounds etc are locked up or full of crack heads, what are they meant to do?

Surely if the goverment gave them a bike track to ride them on, or even just a field we would all be happy?

But no lets "get tough on these evil children". Lets ban everything they do, lets crack down on their large gatherings.

Hope your house isnt burgalled soon by some ex-bike riding youth who now has sod all to do.

Interesting argument. Some might say it smacks of blackmail. Let them do what they want or get your house burgled.
Life must be so hard for todays youth, I mean they've only got 500 million TV channels (3 when I were a lad but we didn't have a colour TV for a fair while).
They've got playstations and consoles, they've got DVDs and MP3's, they've got enough cash to blow £1500 on a mini bike thing, they've got no coppers giving them a thick ear and parents who couldn't give a damn.
What a really hard life it is for them. My heart bleeds. Bu that's not enough, they need more stuff laid on for them or they'll get bored and if they get bored they'll have to rob your house.
What a defeatist and apologist argument, no wonder the country is going to hell.

Tennis/cricket/football I find boring. Less dangerous is less fun to me.

If the kids wanted to do the above then they would, obviously they want to mess about on mini bikes instead.

If the (annoyed) locals and kids tried to push for some ground to do it on, the kids would have more respect for locals / council.

If you OMG BAN IT I DONT LIKE THE NOISE then the kids will resent locals / council & police who enforce the rules.

What don't you understand?

I like shooting but I am not allowed to shoot in pulic areas in case I hurt someone. Minimotos can hurt people. How would you feel if some muppet aged 12 on a minimoto ran into your child and killed her?
There are minimoto clubs, if you like minimoto join a club.
If I want to shoot things I go to the rifle club.
If you want to ride minimoto go to the minimoto club.

Why should people put up with noise? Why should kids be given carte blanche to annoy everyone around them? Since when did kids suddenly become above the law or more important than anyone else?

So if the local's who are fed up with them riding on the roads, turned their efforts to campaigning for a bike track for the kids to go on instead, surely the problem is then solved at the root?
Why should it be down to the people whose evenings and weekends are ruined by little chavs to campaign for a dirt track for them? Why don't the little chavs get a dirt track before they buy them?

lol what a ridiculous argument. We should let them do something illegal and dangerous and disruptive just so they don't um... er... go and do something else illegal, dangerous and disruptive? These kids aren't going to respect local counsilc/police any mroe whether their bokes are taken or not, I think you do them far too much credit there. We aren't supposed to be pandering to these people, and there's no reason in hell why we should put up with scrotes making our life that little bit mroe difficult just so that they can "have a good time"... at our expense.

If you read the stories in this thread about damaging cars and almost being killed with those illegally ridden bikes then I can only assume you have a screw loose.

I had to put up with one of the gyppo's up the street riding his up and down from 7am on Saturday til nearly 11pm, if I wasn't so worried about a gang of *****'s burning my house down I'd have taken a 10lb sledge to the thing (the bike, not the wain)

Well which is most likely to end up under the wheels of your car or hit your toddler at 30mph and kill him/her?

You're perfectly safe so long as you don't ride your minimotomonkeybikething up and down outside my window for 16 hours on my day off, if you do, expect me to remove from said machine and hammer it to the approximate depth of a pancake.
