I picked up Might & Magic: Heroes VI (why did you mix the name up, you ********?) in the Steam sale and have thus far been unable to play it. First there was an issue with a missing .DLL file, then a pile of grief trying to get Ubisoft Game Launcher to work, and now I can't log in to my Ubisoft account because the service is unavailable - the forums are down for another couple of days and presumably they've taken everything else with it. I've never logged in on this game before, so I can't even use the offline option.

If I'd pirated this game, I wouldn't have had to deal with any of this crap. I seriously regret handing over my money to Ubisoft via Steam - never would have done it if I weren't such a fan of the Might & Magic collection. Now I won't be able to play the game until next weekend because I'm working the whole of this coming week, when the service is supposed to be up and running again.

You know what you can go and do, Ubisoft. Right in the ear.

Just click "Offline Mode", bottom right of the game launcher, drama over?

Although the login is not working, it still autopatched for me so cool.

Right now, as far as I can see it, the only option I have to play the game I've payed for is to pirate it until Ubisoft gets their damn service sorted out. Pretty much exactly what people were most worried about when their internet connection DRM was announced. If it hasn't affected you that's great, but I'm pretty ****ed at the situation.

Do what I do.

See Ubisoft, and buy something else.

LOL, the only thing I like about UBI is Graw on the Xbox. Love those games, why are the PC versions so different? no cover etc, FPS game but can be hacked to show third person. Really gutted when I got Graw 1/2 from steam the other week.

Is this the same case for Steam? If their servers are down, can you still play all your steam games? Ive never had to use the 'offline mode' in steam, what exactly does it do?

Bought Beyond Good and Evil last night, after seeing that people had some success on the Wine App DB. Download, install goes fine. Try to run and get told that i need to install TAGES. Not surprisingly it seems that the Wine team don't exactly go out of their way to support DRM.

Sure, it's one thing to complain when DRM is restrictive or an inconvenience. But when it stops you from playing the game altogether? :(

but... but assassin's creed ;/

Assassins creed 2 is the best in the series for me, i tried Brotherhood and i just couldn't get into it there-for have not played Revelations. And the yearly releases put me off the franchise too. So my opinion is Assassins Creed alone cannot justify the stupidity of Ubisoft towards the PC gamers. And after the Comments made from a Ubisoft employee recently about PC gamers they can swivel for my money.

Related to ubisoft..

My brother wanted to get rid of Settlers 7 as he thought it sucked as does Ubisoft so I purchased it from him for a fiver, he only payed £6.99 anyway. Well the cdkey is tied to his ubisoft account, so much for buying it!

:(

Far Cry 2 and Ubisoft were a joke for me, you can only install game 5 times.

I didn't know I had to revoke the license on every uninstall, I'm still blocked from it now. Can't be bothered to email there support though, so I just used a no cd patch instead.
