hi i have the pc in my sig.

came down 2 mornings ago to find the pc turned off. i have stripped it down and tried to boot with only i stick of ram and a gpu. nothing it's stuck with no display and A2 error on the board which is ide detect?. i tried without the gpu and using the onboard graphics, the same result. i reset cmos by the button and taking the bvatt out for 2 minutes. same. so, to me it looks like the board or cpu. i really hope it's not the cpu as it's a great clocker but i think it could be???

Try unplugging the hard drives/dvd drive anything sata based and see if it boots to bios.

If so then plug them back in one by one(preferably boot drive first).

Edit just saw you have raided them. Obviously they'll need to be plugged back in together in each raid.

Quick google suggests others have had luck doing this and found a duff drive.

i've googled and found nothing on this. i have now taken out the board and breadboarded it. i have 1 stick of ram in the board and nothing else. it's giving the A2 error code and the red boot device led is stuck on. what could this be????

i've tried it with a hdd plugged in and with no drives . all the same

can you still get in to the bios? is the board on the latest bios release?

if you disconnect all sata cables do you still get the same error on boot?

do you have another\spare sata cable you could try or maybe a spare hdd\ssd

i can't get into bios as theres no display at all. i have tried with hdd connected and no drives. different cables. diff slots for the ram.it's strange. not the usual thing for a dead board but it's either that or the cpu. with no drives connected i at least should see the bios post, but nothing. i tried the onboard graphics. i tried a couple of gpus and with no gpu cable connected

it fires up, fans spinning beeps once then goes through the startup but stops at error A2 on the board and boot device led lit up.no display at all

try this

remove power
remove battery
if there is a reset comos button or pins then reset comos

wait 10 mins

put battery back in
only use the following
motherboard
cpu
cpu fan
and on board graphics
unplug mouse keyboard everything else all wires ectra only one wire to power one to monitor
nothing else in back of pc

see if you can get it to post to bios
(if it dose not work first time try it at least 3 times )

if so reset add keyboard and go to bios
see if there is a reset bios or fix bios option

do that if you can

if this works then add more components and see how far you get

i've done all this. i left the battery out over night. without a keyboard plugged in i get D7 error no console input devices found. i plug in the keyboard and get the A2 error.and getting hold of another z77 board looks like being a nightmare

If you did all that I would think its m/board or cpu

But because of. The different codes I'm not sure what the codes mean but if they make no sense then it looks like a mother board
