yes i did. i have bitten the bullet and bought myself a z97 board and cpu. the motherboard is still under warranty but not sure if its that or the cpu

ok, well the motherboard has been tested at ocuk and posts fine. so that only leaves the cpu. does this problem sound like a cpu fault to anyone? i have no way to test it

I would have checked the CPU first, if that 2700 has been run at 5ghz 24/7 then that's going to be where I would look.

Best way would be to lend it to someone to check it over for you.

i sent the mb back for testing as it is still under warranty. so no harm done there.
it just seems like a strange problem to say it is the cpu

Can you buy a cheap second hand low end CPU (or borrow one), to test with.

Edit, that's quite a heavy overclock isn't it?, maybe it killed it..
