Dangerous?

Just coming home tonight at about 11:15, and i go to pull onto the dual carriageway, and theirs a cop car parked on the slip road with his speed gun trying to catch people as they fly past on the dual carriageway. No lights on or anything, just siiting totally stationary on a slip road to a 70mph road.

Surely thats just pure idiocy and asking for bother?

Parked on what, the pavement, hard shoulder, was it street lit?

Parked on the slip road. No pavement, no hard shoulder, no nothing. The road is wide enough for 2 cars easily, but surely its just asking to be rear ended with no lights on at all. The roads not that will lit, but it is lit.

Report it! I know it might seem petty and they probably won't do a lot but unless you report it chances are the policeman in question will continue to be an eejit. Speak up while you can, it's in the interests of safety.
