Daniel Ricciardo on Top Gear 8pm

Ooof forgot it was Sunday or that top gear would be on :S seems only yesterday I watched the last episode :S

Great lap, loved the lift off oversteer - I get the impression though he went in a bit blasé and was holding back a bit kind of caring too much if he didn't get a good time and would have shaved a fair bit off even that time if he'd gone for it.

So according to the lap he did he is 0.7 secs faster than Lewis. Sooooo by that logic if the RB is less than 0.7s per lap slower than the Merc the Championship is in the bag? He may well be faster but not by almost 1s. I will accept though cracking lap and a nice guy is DR.

They edit the funny bits together from laps they do when they are learning the circuit. I'm sure for his flying laps he was trying a little harder.

I've not seen last night's TG yet, but there are so many more variables than you'd find on a race track. Track conditions, wind speed/direction, tyre depth, all of which would make an enormous difference to a lap.

Add to that that some of the drivers are just having a laugh and not taking it seriously.

Since TG went all Hollywood, I'm convinced some of the SITRPC laps are bending the truth. I can't stand that section now. The F1 drivers are generally fun though.

You cant have been following F1 long - other wise you would know that just because a car is faster in the race, if its behind one or more cars it still may not be able to overtake :)

The only reason I watch TG any more is because of the SIARPC - the rest is such **** now, even for an "entertainment" show instead of a "motoring" one.

Even for someone who has colleagues working in Theale (never realised it was such a dump, although I had heard it was pretty bad), that interest lasted about 30 seconds :):(

I thought most fans thought that section was the weakest. It's certainly gone downhill since the bigger stars have been attracted. It was the case in the past that most of the guests were petrol heads to varying degrees and actually wanted to have a shot in it, but now it's just another publicity chalk mark.

The rest niggles me, but I still find it very watchable. I'm not the fan I was, but it is still decent. It's gone the way of most sitcoms now, where the guys are actually playing up to their stereotype and letting it dominate the show, rather than continuing to be themselves. We all know Clarkson is a very intelligent guy (immature and silly, but he is bright), that Hammond has gone all western and that May is actually faster than is made out (we were following the live timing for the Britcar 24 hour race at Silverstone).

Have been watching F1 for 20+ years - as for a faster car no being able to overtake a slower car, I think we saw plenty of that last year. Some limiting factors would be a poor driver (Rosbery unable to overtake Vergne in Hungary) or the track (Monaco).

I enjoy Top Gear, a lot. I don't think you it's there to be taken seriously, and it's obvious a lot of it is staged, infact the whole thing is I'd say. But it didn't half make myself and the missus laugh out loud a lot on Sunday night :)

The only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the length of hte interview with DR... very heavily edited.
