..but the guy in green (interviewer) and Maynard both come off quite badly in this interview, in my opinion.

Yeah, OK Maynard's got this dry humour thing going on, but if he was going to be a twit he shouldn't have agreed to do the interview. I don't know...mixed opinions on this one.

Anyway; here's what i'm talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6TtMyB5GsI

I agree with you about Maynard being stupidly dry, I don't know what he's trying to achieve. I guess some people would find that funny (I don't), but it's a friggin interview, the interviewer might be a little more hyper than him, but the questions aren't retarded and it's MTV.

Nice way of introducing a thread that exists to be critical of Maynard without the multiple flamings from Tool fans

Maynard = Tyler Durden

The only reason the interviewer is innapropriate is because he is such a big Tool fan, I would say.

"I play in a Rock and Roll band and it's just three chords, does it work the same for Tool?"
"Do you still think of Tool as a big hobby band..."

He doesn't realise that such comments are innapropriate as he think Tool are the best thing since sliced bread and doesn't realise that Tool do not have the same reverence for their own music.

I'm sorry my thread title was misleading. It was meant to imply that Danny came off well in the interview, whereas Maynard sounded arrogant. Fair enough it's his way, but I think sometimes there's a difference between being awkward with an interviewer, and being plain rude.

My opinion is that Maynard is edging towards the rude side in this interview, and this makes my opinion of him drop.

However, I expected your reply to be biased, and I was proved to be correct. Although, as ever, you're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine.

I think Maynard is pretty hilarious in that interview, that interviewer is pretty damn retarded. So funny when he rips the guy's band. Danny is damn cool in it too.

Mentioning Arctic Monkeys in the interview made me cringe. I don't think Maynard comes across badly, I'd be pretty annoyed if I was being interviewed by a fifteen year old too. Look at the way he's bouncing around because he's so excited, and introducing his own band into the interview was a bloody stupid idea. What kind of reply does he expect when he asks them "Are Tool a hobby band?" I'd say that was pretty insulting in all honesty. Gotta love "But I thought it had already failed" from Maynard, that cracked me up.

I'm not sure that Maynard would have been rude if the interviewer wasn't innapropriate.

DC didn't come off that great, he seemed awkward and slightly clingy to Maynard... I don't see how you can condemn Maynard as rude and say that DC came off well when DC was laughing every time Maynard slapped the interviewer down...

How is my reply biased? Because I disagree with you? If I am disagreeing with you, at least I have afforded you the courtesy of manners.
