Now we all know that AMD have not been having the best time of it of late but today their share price has hit its lowest ever point 1.77 with a previous lowest of 1.86 back on Nov 16th 2012.

Just how long can they hang on like this, what can they actually do and I don't mean what can they say they will do, but what can they ACTUALLY do to save the company?
 
What's happened to give the rapid drop?

E: I mean today specifically, from what I can make out the q2 earnings report was yesterday, or is this a knock on effect around stock trading times?

I hope zen makes them compete in the CPU market, thats much bigger than the GPU market and if they create another Athlon 64 or Phenom then they will surely save themselves. Hopefully that will allow the GPU side to do better too.... thats the last thing I can think of. After that its buy out time.
 
Wonder just how much intel paying off companies not to use amd cpu's actually cost amd in the long run? They settled for something like 2 billion, but longer term the cpu supply probably would have been worth much more i'm guessing?

Given that almost every pre-built you can find has intel chips in it, even before the horrible bulldozer. I imagine it cost them far far more than a mere 2 billion.

I mean thats only 20 million CPUs costing £100 each. When you consider how many computers are in the world and how much CPU's actually cost over and under £100..... thats not many really.
And thats just pure CPU sales. Almost everyone on the planet who has a computer will know the brand name Intel. Thats because of a huge knock on effect since pre-builts contain their chips and stuff like that

Me too, Microsoft would be ideal.

I think its inevitable, as of March 31, 2015 AMD has $3.428Bn in assets but most of that is made up of intellectual and physical property, i have no idea how much of it is cash reserves but its probably not a lot.

Once they run out of cash reserves they will have to sell up or even give themselves away because if they start selling their IP portfolio no one would be interested, its that IP portfolio that makes AMD a very attractive company to own. without it they are worthless.

Right now is the time to buy AMD shares, a buyout is going to happen, IMO.

They were stupid to take the settlement, if it had gone the duration they probably could have got double or triple what they did. There was literally overwhelming evidence against intel and they knew their ass was in a sling. After looking it up the payment was only 1.25 billion.
