The world’s leading provider of personal peripherals & accessories, Logitech has announced the release of a pair of new high-performance laser mouse – Logitech Performance Mouse MX (full-size mouse with flexible micro-USB charging system and 4 customizable thumb buttons) and Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX (more compact, notebook mouse). Both mice feature hyper-fast scrolling, advanced 2.4GHz wireless, and latest Logitech Darkfield Laser Tracking technology that provides users an accurate, precise cursor control on virtually any surface, including clear glass (> 4mm thick) and high-gloss surfaces.

According to Logitech, Darkfield Laser Tracking technology detects microscopic particles and micro-scratches on the surfaces (rather than tracking the surface itself), thanks to its dark field microscopy.

“Laptops have gained popularity in the last several years because of the freedom they afford – people today want to be able to connect to their digital world anytime, anywhere. However, until now, no mouse has been able to match that flexibility,” said Rory Dooley, senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit, Logitech. “Thanks to Logitech Darkfield, whether you’re checking the morning news from the granite counter top in your kitchen or at work manipulating a spreadsheet from your glass desk, you can be confident that your Logitech mouse will be up to the task.”

The new Logitech Performance Mouse MX and Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX that include tiny Logitech Unifying receiver will ship in U.S. and Europe starting later this month for around $100 and $80, respectively.

Hmmm, Might get me in on this Dark Field Laser action using my new found 50% discount with Logitech ;-)

It's going to cost what the MX Revolution costs now TBH as theRev has shifted price very little since launch - it is after all currently the most advanced mouse out there. The Razer Mamba doesn't count since it's too bugged to be called usable.

Edit*

Huh? who put the downthumbs icon on it!

Aye,

MX Rev is a beautifully ergonomic design and I fully welcome the Performance MX !

I've had a look on their shop site too, £89 :O

Thankfully with 50% off it's £45 so not so bad. I could probably sell the MX Rev as that's still all boxed and in VGC for say £30.... Hmmm!

It looks like a more curvy Revolution with better button placement - can only be a good thing :p

I still have not used my 50% discount on Logitech yet :p

Even though it's wireless the performance is that of a wired mouse, seriously.

I've had a Mamba and didn'y like it's lack of useful features such as rocker switch on the mousewheel itself, for a gaming mouse to not have this I felt it was a let down especially given the price and the fact that MS and Logitech mice far cheaper have this...

The laser is slightly more sensitive than the Dark Field laser though, only slightly. Tracking and latency is exactly the same.

Step back?

On the Revolution you could not use it while it was charging, with the PMX you can. How is that a step back!

Simply tuck the cable on your desk all connected up and only attach it when charging every few days.
