Dark Messiah Help

Went to play DMoM&M today, and it got past all the vids. Stopped at the screen with the logo, the one before the loading bar pops up. Up flashes an error message:
The instruction at "0x2408b219" referenced memory at "0x2041fd50". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program

And on click it shuts down DM. Have tried:
Deleting Savegames - does nothing
Repairing it - does nothing
Tried all of my different shortcuts and the .exe itself.
Nothing works! HELP!!!

Its only just started happening today, worked fine 2 days ago. My Specs are:
Intel P4 3.00 Ghz (2 CPUs)
1Gb RAM
GeForce 6800 PCI-E
250Gb Hard Drive (56.7 Used)

HELP ME PLEASE!

I know this sounds like a dumb Q, but how do you test the memory?

Ran memtest for half an hour - nowt. Tested DM again, but no change! More help please...

I only have 56k dial-up, so it's not worth installing the multiplayer & steam. Therefore, I have no steam folders.
