So my first build for a long time. Last major mess around was back in 2000 with an AMD Athlon! Then spent the last 20 years working with a few Apple Macs in video and media as well as Synology and Linux servers. Now with a little more free time and freedom, I thought it would be a good time to do a build :)

Idea is black, black, black, black... and lots more black. With a few subtle LED illuminations.

Bits I've compiled so far... Parts List (not exhaustive):

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X (Purchased)

Motherboard - AsRock Pro4 B450 AM4 ATX (Purchased)

CPU Cooler - Stock at the moment. Water TBD if overclocking.

Memory - Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz 16gb (Purchased)

Graphics Card - TBD...

M.2 Drives - Samsung 970 Evo Plus (Purchased)

SATA Drives - 2x 3TB Western Digital RED for data storage. RAID 0 (Purchased)

Power Supply - Modified be quiet! System Power 9 400W (Purchased)

Case - Corsair Carbide Series 275R Black (Purchased)

WiFi Card - TBD

Case Lighting - Some sort of Corsair offering TBD...

Case Fans - Stock to get system running then TBD...

Case Build

I purchased the case first to size up what I was actually going to do. Unfortunately when the case arrived, there were some bits missing (top air filter mesh and fitting kit) :( but a quick email to Corsair and bits were in the post.

I chose the acrylic window as opposed to the tempered glass as at some point I’ll be modding the window.

Overclockers have been great but appear to be very busy at the moment with a backlog of orders due to Covid-19 issues.

Hopefully have everything together by mid week to assemble to check before a few black mods.

Photos of the beginnings to follow as soon as I start with bits in-hand.

:)

What's annoying is with a nice dark coloured Motherboard, ASRock go and include a nasty silver IO shield :( That'll see a bit of paint very soon!
