Dark Rock 4 - Push or Push & Pull?

Hi guys

I have a Dark Rock 4 on a Ryzen 5 3600. I currently have two fans on the cooler (the be quiet fan in push and a 120mm fan in pull). There is a 140mm exhaust fan placed 2/3 inches from the cpu cooler.

My question is - is it better to just run in a push configuration and have my extra 120mm added to my intake (I already have one 140mm fan on my intake).

Also - does cpu coolers perform better with just a push configuration? Online searches produce conflicting results.

My goal = the quietest lowest temps.

Having the rear 120mm cpu fan so close to the case exhaust fan is not ideal an could actually impede performance, I would be tempted to remove it.

Check temps before and after.

Very little difference in push pull mate,if your rear fan is near the cooler it will draw heat out I did this with a hyper 212.

Thanks - I removed the second fan and while I haven't tried it under load; temps look to be only a few degrees hotter. BUT OMG THE PC IS SILENT.

Literally, my PSU, GPU fans are idle and the other fans barely spin. It's glorious while browsing. When playing games it winds up but hey its not loud at all.

Great

I would trade a couple of degrees for less noise any day.

You probably could cool that cpu passively with that cooler.

Interesting - I used to have a Scythe Ninja (remember them? the original) and basically a passive setup back in the day. TBH, fans have come such a long way (I haven't had a new build in ages until now) as had technology theres no need to go passive right? Also I'm convincing myself before I go tinkering and trying passive cooling.

Certainly do, I love at sythe products.

No point in going totally passive the fan is quiet and it does move the heat better.

If you do fancy going passive do some temperature tests before you remove the fan and then after.

I would love to know the results.
