Sup all, with the ever looming presence of Dark Souls 3 coming, I figured I might give #2 a stab again. I played it a little, but didn't connect with it anywhere near as closely as the first.

I'm just wondering, I've got the basic PC edition, but if I remember correctly, DARK SOULS™ II: Scholar of the First Sin (copy and pasta) from Steam gives you the graphical upgrade?

Is this still the case? I need to pay more to gain what should have been standard to start with?

Thanks

The graphical upgrades are very minor. They tweaked the lighting to be a little bit higher contrast(brighter areas are a bit brighter, darker areas a tad darker) and adds in a few little DoF effects that you'll be hard pressed to notice. The main difference is that SotFS comes with a shakeup of enemy and item placement and also comes with all of the DLC.

If you can find a copy cheap enough, it's worth it alone for the DLC rather than buying them separately for vanilla DS2. There's three expansion packs and they're ALL really, really good, with some of the best(and most challenging) areas and bosses in all of the Souls games. Whichever way you play, definitely play the DLC.
