Dark Souls DSfix still required?

I ask as I'm going to start playing through them again, but I forgot if the fix is even needed anymore now the 'beta' is out.

This was as good a thread as any to resurrect. I've been playing this in prep for Dark Souls 3, which is still agonisingly almost 2 weeks away, fully modded using DSFix from the nexus mod website.

This build has put every other game I own on hold, it is still awesome, and with the eye candy very impressive.

I simply used FRAPS for screenshots, so the graphics(modded) are a lot better in the flesh, so to speak.

I hope it cheers the people up who are mad about the late release! And maybe, you'll do another character build and have tons of fun!
