Anyone else still watching this... UO mixed with DAoC mixed with Shadowbane mixed with eve...

Hoping it does beta next week, and launch on 22nd... could do with an MMO that feels like there's a 'world' out there!

I just applied to join the Oldtimers Guild... seemed appropriate, but if there's a UK guild worth joining...

Supposedly it'll run on fairly low spec, but we know so little about it, who knows!

Yeah, should make crafting more meaningful, as there will be constant need for gear!

Current rumour is that there will be a fair few features not in at launch, but I guess that's no surprise.

Yeah, can't believe some people have been following the game eagerly for years. Must drive them mad.

It's difficult to tell, they've kept so quiet about the game you can't judge if it'll be a failure or turn out to be really good. Usually beta leaks give you a good feel.

It's worrying that i first thought you mean the evil Lucan in eq2...

They've been tight-lipped throughout development... so there's a slim chance it's just how they operate, and they'll still launch. Seems daft to me... alienating your fanbase by not communicating... but there you go.

I reckon they'll launch end jan with a much reduced feature set, and hope enough people play to support them while they build the rest back in.... but who knows?

the main man was at an opencoffee presentation in athens a few days ago, and apparently confirmed jan 22 as launch day 'bar any major happenings', and some form of beta before then... though why they bother with a few days open beta is beyond me...

Small dev team, exceedingly secretive, very high expectations from the fanbase. Launch is stated as being jan 22nd, no open beta announced, no minimum specs, no distribution, no pre-order... and rumours that there are still only a few hundred closed beta testers.

Then again, they may just have a kickass game that they want to keep quiet.

No news :-(

I guess it's quite likely they'll announce a further delay this week. Which to my mind is another nail in the game's coffin... there's only so long you can keep people desperate for your game!

Yup, I'm with you on that - it's all very interesting. Sounds like there are two 'sorts' of issues with the game:

- cosmetic (character models and animations dire, sound effects crap etc). These can all be patched fairly easily (and who knows, they may be done and saved up till launch). I'm not too worried about these.

- gamebreakers (game relies heavily on significant player population, combat may actually just be damned boring etc).... these I worry about.

Oh and the problem of the company producing it - very poor at communication and managing their player base!

Oh well, we'll see, but I could do with a good sandbox with a fun 'meta-game' of politics and clan warfare.

Yup, I saw that little piggie too...

Still, fingers crossed, maybe they will pull it out of the bag... at least they don't have to worry about class balance :-)
