Last night I was fortunate enough to attend a gallery of Darren Heath's F1 work, hosted by the lovely chaps at Collyer Bristow. For those that don't know of his work have a peak at http://www.darrenheath.com/

I was hugely impressed at seeing the pictures brought to life in print. They were displayed in sizes ranging from A2 to A0 (and for sale between £295 and £1,195) and you could really see how seeing these images on a screen simply doesn't do them justice.

Stunning work, I've seen his work a few times before and he's easily my favourite motorsport photographer. Does he have sponsors or commissioners for his work because I don't imagine F1 media passes are cheap particularly with the access that he must get to be able to get some of these angles.
 
Brilliant photographer that has seemingly been around years - used to have a couple of his smaller photos from a few years back, but unfortunately no more

It is free entry but I think you need to know someone to get on the list.

I didn't buy anything from those on display, but having seen them I'll now definitely be going through his whole catalogue and choosing one or two. They really have to be seen in print to be believed just how good they are.
 
I love some of his panning shots. It's a shame the media (from what I see anyway) usually show the most boring of the images these guys shoot. There's so much creativity in sports photography that doesn't get the attention it deserves. Bob Martin is one of my favourites, especially his 'Graphic' section: http://www.bobmartin.com/bob1.html

^^ He really likes the clarity brush... That'll probably be why his personal images particularly don't get printed as there's too much negativity around such obviously retouched images
 
Amazing photos. Having photographed F1 a couple of times I can appreciate how difficult it is. I think it's got to be one of the hardest things to capture, especially creatively and aesthetically.

It's one thing waiting for months to capture a certain bird. If you miss it you can carry on waiting. Capturing one of the world's fastest moving events, that will never happen again, with such quality, is a master skill.
 
Whilst I appreciate the effort it took to get those photos along with everything else, they just don't do it for me.

I don't know, they are great shots...but I wouldn't spend any money on them. Annoyingly...I really want to like them enough, but just can't. :(
 
Some of his panning/streaky shots are absolutely fantastic and he is undoubtedly good, but the F1 showcase on his site is underwhelming.

I'm sure the BBC put together a better set last year.
