Is there a site which you can sign up to, to be automaticly billed or notified? If there is, use that.

ULEZ has one and quite often it just doesn't notice you going in. So no need to pay just incase, just pay if you get pinged. Probably helps that many ULEZ cameras outside of A roads are trashed

Yes - the TfL site which will do Congestion, ULEZ, Dartford and Blackwall on instant direct debit or monthly debit.

If it's your first time, you'll get a letter asking you to pay the original toll

Don't expect anything soon, it took them ~8 months to send one through to me after I was a couple of hours late paying

Just to clarify this, its the cars first time that counts.

You don't need to, you can just go to the M6 toll website to pay your dartford crossing fee...

If its your first time and first fine, you can call them up, claim stupidity and they'll wipe it for you, least they did me.
Second time though, not a chance.

But yeah, pay online, can ever set up direct debit with them to do it automatically.
