Das Boot series

Haven't seen a thread for this but I am 100% behind anything that is about WW2, it's a favourite genre of mine.

Thought it was a new show but this seems to be an advert for season 3 on Sky Atlantic. So I have missed any advertising for the previous seasons. Here's hoping its any good.
All episodes on 15 May.

I have two season to catch up on by then.

Agreed, Das Boot is one of the greatest war films ever!

Never purchased Sky as it would be lost on me, nonetheless, Atlantic does feature some decent shows!

Well it is relatively new. I managed to watch a couple of episodes of the first series and didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as the original.

Watched a few of the first series but ended up not finishing it, cant exactly remember why mind, but a love story comes to mind and probably more costume drama than i'd usually go for. i may be mis-remembering that mind.
i should probably go back and catch up! the original film was excellent though!

Same as @LizardKing I started watching the first series, thought it was decent enough, but later stopped watching and I can't recal why.

However the original film was absolutely fantastic. I've tried to find it somewhere to watch recently and can't seem to.

Finished the first series and I really liked it, a little more espionage and little less submarine than I would you liked, but it is obviously need to fill out 3 series of a TV show.
Hopefully season 2 is as good

The original Das Boot is one of my all time favourite films/TV series.

You can get the 3 hours 28 minutes release on BR online for about £10 or the complete version (full length) for about £25.

Haven't ever bothered with the remake. Is it on general DVD/BR release on on a pay per view channel only? Wouldn't mind checking it out to see what it's like compared to the original.

Thanks but unfortunately I don't have anything to play a BR or DVD on nowadays. The new series can be streamed on Amazon Video.
