I know there has probably been a few threads regarding dash cams but thinking about getting one for my jag.
I now notice halfords hardwire it in so no messy cables everywhere.

Question is would you let someone from halfords loose at your car?

I wouldn't no but that's with the horror stories from my local one. Like most places it's purely down to the chap who fits it.

Halfords want £30 if you buy from them.

My local dashcam supplier (200 yards from my house) wanted £130 for installation!

I bought from the local place, but opted to install it myself inc hiding the wires. It doesn't look that difficult to me.

Though these could be famous last words :D

Why not have a go at installing it yourself? There's bound to be some guides floating around on some Jag forums.

I hardwired mine into my new RR a couple of weeks ago by picking up 2 "add a fuses" - it's as simple as taking the fuses out, adding them into the fuse tapes, putting them back in and finding a suitable place to run the cables. I ran the cable along the headlining, down one of the pillars (Torx screwdriver to get this off) then down the side of an existing wire loom behind the glove compartment to the fuse box!

All in all, took about 15 minutes to fit. Works great!

Just hardwired by NextBase 402G in myself, using the NextBase hardwire kit.

It was'nt massively difficult... other than the fact that it would appear that all the fuses in the fusebox behind the glovebox in the Mk4 Mondeo are live, and that there is only one wire that is ignition fed....other than that it was a walk in the park! :D

Don't let anyone from Halfrauds ever touch your car... that would be a terrible mistake.

There are plenty of reputable places you can get it done...

Wife had her stereo fitted at a local Halfords and they were great.

I know loads of people that have used them with no problems at all for fitting everything ranging from Stereos to Sat Navs and Dash Cams.

It all depends on the branch and the fitter. Oh yeah same as any other garage you go to..........

I could probably do it myself but I will just end up getting annoyed if something does not go my way!
The guy seems pretty confident at halfords and said it would take an hour.
End of the day what is the worst that could happen? They do this all the time and will be insured incase anything goes wrong as its a massive company ...

About an hour tops of pushing wire behind trim and getting a fused socket multiplier I could hide in the glove-box and mine was fitted. I wouldn't pay anyone to do something so simple.

That doesn't mean getting them to admit to and sort any problems will be quite so straight forward.
