Dash Lights

The instrument / dash lights in my 2004 Leon are always on. Well whenever the engine is on and when the lights are on or off. Is that right / should they be?

Yes, they're supposed to be.

Bloody dangerous it is too. I drove a leon for 3 years and the number of times i would exit a multistory at night onto a streetlit road forgetting my lights was stupid.
