hi guys...

whats the best way to take some dash components off of my car? (mk1 punto)...

I am installing a tft and some LED's etc, switches and things so I need to take parts of the centre column off to do this... can't see any obvious screws etc so other than prying it off with a screwdriver (lol) what's the procedure herE?

thanks!

Try looking everywere, is there any little round scores in the plastic? some may be hidden by plastic caps ect, is it the centre console your on about?

if so try under the handbrake, thats all really.

or there is the pry option as it is only a mk1 punto :P

I always got the impression that coughing rather hard would at least dislodge it.

lol touche!!! nah surprisingly the interior is the only thing that hasn't broken on mine....

thanks bud... so I should be looking for screws/etc? I haven't taken a dash off before altho I do know my way around tool boxes etc - just dont know what the standard for attaching them is!

lol the thing is when I pry something I always tend to break it haha...

If i remember correctly there are 3 bolts along the top at the bottom of the windscreen - 1 in each corner behind the speakers and one in the center behind a little cover. There are 2 in the glove compartment (behind the little access cover at the rear). There 3 i think at the bottom of the dash - 1 by each door and one just to the left of the steering column. I think there may be some behind the centre air vents, also if i remember correctly the heater pannel needs to come off too. I took mine out off my mk1 1995 1.1 55sx but it was a while ago. Make sure you have plenty of zip ties. Also you might find it usefull to take the steering wheel off and undo the steering collum securing bolts (not sure if thats the correct name for them) to allow it to drop down.

Check out this website for fiat owners - you may find it very usefull and helpfull.
