Dashcam footage of near-miss with cyclist

I think the thread will descend into another series of pointless arguments and get locked by a moderator

How is this anyone elses fault than the car?

Moreover, why on earth would he do that in a queue, he has to wait anyway?

These are dangerous (drunk) cyclists (fragment from my video):
https://youtu.be/FTRbWM9_f2g?t=11m37s

Or at 4:31 (https://youtu.be/FTRbWM9_f2g?t=4m30s), dangerously crossing cyclist.

Or 5:01, cyclist cutting corner. 10:43 children illegally crossing + nearly swerving into a car

That (in OP) is just a normal cyclist failing a little bit....

Can't imagine why the driver would effectively pretend that the cyclist doesn't exist and then blame it on them when a collision takes place. If anyone is to blame for the impact it's the driver.

Indeed, the cyclist was pretty much cyclist to the highway code.

Its pretty obvious the driver was a complete moron. Yes the cyclist is wobbling all over the place when he set off but the driver had no need to get all agitated as there was nowhere for them to go apart from another 10ft or so to wait behind a huge queue of traffic.

It sums up a lot of drivers, lots of impatience and anger for absolutely nothing as they arent getting anywhere anyway.

Echoing the above, it would appear to be the drivers fault.

That said, are push bikes allowed to filter between prevailing/oncoming traffic? Not excusing the driver, just wondering if it's legal in the first place.

Typical dashcam warrior car driver creating an incident. He saw the opportunity to finally justify his dashcam purchase by creating a situation.

The driver would have got nowhere faster than the cyclist so what's the point?

I slapped the side of a van yesterday. He decided not to let me move off ahead of him safely (I was positioned in front of him at the lights) and passed with an inch to spare. Of course, I overtook 10 seconds later and probably gained 20+ mins on him.

it's he just overtaking the stationary traffic on the correct side, instead of undertaking down next to the curb where there's usually pot-holes and drains to content with? How could that be illegal, especially as he's choosing the risk and what space is around him, instead of a car overtaking him with too little room?

completely the drivers fault. the stumble/wobble is the cyclist just joining the traffic and setting off and possibly trying to get his shoes to clip in (if he's using them). That driver should be educated to his wrong ways before the cyclist and it's a shame these click-bait style "news" website are happy to defend the person in the wrong, presumably to try and get people annoyed/talking (as we're doing here) to get more hits.

Cyclist probably not showing the greatest example of cycling ever, but the driver clearly has issues.

If anything the video just highlights the drivers inability to anticipate even the most obvious of hazards.

Looks drunk.

It seemed like he was crossing the road, but randomly decided to ride in the middle of the road and wobbled back in to the lane again.

I think he was given plenty of room, if he wasn't he would have been hit.

Drivers like this are complete donkeys. They're the same muppets who slightly accelerate towards cars pulling out of a junction as they have right of way and get on the horn to try and prove a point when if they'd of maintained their speed, no issue.

It's busy, you can clearly see the cyclist is struggling slightly with balance, they're allowed the full width of the road and so why not just delay pulling away by all of 2-3 seconds.
