Bloody Vista is causing me another annoying problem!!

I have been listening to a radio programme since the beginning of time, and it leaves a .ASF file in the Temporary Internet File folder usually.

Since I have migrated to Vista, the file is still there everytime I tunned to the radio station and listen to the show online, but once I copy this .ASF file onto my desktop, for some weird reasons, Vista apparently converted this .ASF file into .DAT format.

When I use Windows Media to open it, it just says cannot recognise the format or something like that! I have use Audio editor like AudCity trying to open it but in vain.

What the bloody hell is wrong with this .ASF file. ASF file is microsoft invented, how come Microsoft screws up her own invention !!

I realy hate Vista and regret buying it!

Are you sure it is 'converting' it during a simple copy and paste?

What link are you listening too or provide more info on where/what you need?

Thanks for your support. I have got it sorted at long last. This is what I did:

Remember you could open a file from within the Temporary INternet File folder? So I opened the .ASF file from within the folder. Vista prompted if you really want to open it I just said Yes. It did open!! Now you can use Windows Media Save As to save it to anywhere you like and that's what I did. The only stupid issue that Vista followed is the .ASF file was saved as .DAT.ASF !! Stupid OS!!!

So I just renamed the file type to .ASF instead of .DAT.ASF and I got what I was looking for at last.

This is so stupid!! If you just copy the file from Temporary Internet File folder to anywhere, Vista will convert it to .DAT file and even you rename it to .ASF file, Windows Media or any other media player VLC, Creative Player...won't play it!!
