Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a decent wall-mount data cabinet, or brands, for placing in a garage?

Needs to house a 4-bay Synology, UPS (BX2200MI) and a small 8 port switch - 6/8U-ish sized i guess. Just after something that's relatively sealed, or 'safe' for garage use, to help keep dust and critters to a minimum.

I have seen Cabcon IP rated cabs like these but, just wondering if there's something else out there that may be better or certainly a little cheaper

Chars :)

Unless you get an IP rated cab, it will get dusty in that environment.

I would just get a cheap one and then schedule in a yearly dust blast for the Synology and switches..

6u probably big enough, ups and Synology are bulky if not rack mount spec though, measure the heights etc :)

Patch panel going in there too?

We generally use the Excel range from Mayflex for our cabinets, wall or 'free' standing. You can get them flat packed or prebuilt.

Also, some came with side panel access, probably handy since you're not using rack mount only kit.

That's what I do.

Get some big ol' wall anchors and overspec the rating too for peace of mind.

I bought a £50 one off eBay, new unused 12U iirc. Wish I'd gone for 16U, but there's enough room for a 24 port patch, UDM Pro, switch, NAS, shelf and a host of mini PC and wall wart device consuming things and stuff.

Appreciate the replies gents/ladies :)

I'm leaning to a 'cheapy' cabinet and, like you say, just dealing with the dust/critters etc as i'm not sure i can really justify the £5/600+ for an IP rated one :(

It's for a Synology DS920 and APC BX2200MI (13KG's or so); i'll double check measurements but it's just bulk and weight that i'm slightly concerned about if wall mounting.

Power-line to house unfortunately as there's no way simple way to get an ethernet run(s) there or getting one to an external wall on the house for PtP - can't get it "signed off" digging up multiple freshly re-decorated rooms and a patio/garden - i know, hindsight and all that.
It'll only be an additional backup location with a single camera, so it's not much of a biggie i don't think.

That was going to be my next question.

Arguably i might be able to sit it on the garage rafters but, can you remember what you used for anchors if i do wall-mount it?

What kind of wall is it going on?

Fisker plugs are awesome for solid wall.

I would advise against powerline for your NAS.

Standard single brick external new-build style garage with double-brick pillars every 6/10ft-ish.
Which is why i was leaning to just a cab on the rafters in the 'attic' space as it's boarded and might be a bit stronger.
Will look at Fisker plugs, cheers for that.

I know, i know and i do too but if i could get ethernet/PtP out there then i would - headaches, cost and logistics just make it a no-go unfortunately.
Currently use old Netgear adaptors between there and the house and whilst throughput isn't great, handful of MB/s, it works and is relatively stable unless we get a power cut which is rare.
