Hey guys, there is a possibility that i will be going somewhere for around 9 months and the building where i will be staying has no access to the internet  !

Somebody mentioned to me that i can get something called a "data card" for around £30 a month that will plug into my laptop and allow me to use mobile internet or something?

Could you guys explain what this is, if it exists :)

most mobile networks do them now, it's like using gprs on your phone except it's for your laptop. they can get fairly decent speeds now with 3G and what not. However, if you use a lot of bandwidth it will be very expensive

It's simply a PCMCIA card that plugs into your laptop and allows you to connect to the internet via 3G or GPRS

Google for 3G Datacard and you'll find plenty of information.
