Data encryption - need to encrypt data on my laptop for work - what can I use?

Because of all the worries about losing data on laptops, we've been told (by work) that our hard drives must be encrypted if we are to take our laptops home.

I think the Mac can encrypt everything itself, is this correct?

system preferences, security, file vault, and enable it will encrypt you whole system but dont forget your password

Only your home folder gets encrypted with File Vault, not the entire drive. This may or may not be acceptable to your work.

Where I used to work we used Safeboot with Windows which encrypted the entire drive, not sure what similar products exist for the Mac, if any.

Well the Home directory contains all my files and data, so it should be fine.

truecrypt is a nice little program that is slated for a mac release on the 5th
