Howzit guys,

I am used to doing data recovery on Windows OS partiton drives. However I have been asked if I can do a recovery on a Linux partitioned hard drive.

Does anyone know any free software that I could run in Windows that would read/recovery the data or even if I have to do it ina Linux OS thats fine I guess.

any ideas guys

Much appreciated.

Mondo and bacula are excellent linux tools and both have client/server functions (although unlikely to be compatible with Windows!)

If you want purely data backup, then rsync would be a good choice.

I think you've missed my question. :)

I am looking to recover data off a Linux partition.

aaahhh...

As in it's already broken and need to get the data off the drive...

Sorry - can't give any advice on that one!

You might want to dd the contents off to another drive first before trying any recovery. Dd will copy the contents exactly, errors and all.
