Data recovery Training\Service

Does anyone work in such an area? or have you used such a service?

The area I live in has no one local, and i'm tempted to undertake training in data recovery.

Now I'm capable of doing logical recovery and repair, I've done it a few times using various pieces of software.

But I was looking into training to do the mechanical side of recovery, using clean rooms, etc.

I've already looked into courses, and I'm going to be doing an introductory course in the new year.

But my question is, What sort of pricing rules exist?

I've seen one site offer some absolutely amazing prices, and if these are pretty standard, i most definitely want in!!

Logical damage repairs start at £80 and it goes up depending on data that need to be recovered. Ending at around £195 for above 500GB
Circuitry is £275
Mechanical damage is £375
Removable media with logical damage £50-£100

And there are other prices, But I was just wondered do these prices seem the norm??

When it comes to charging a good reputable recovery expect will be around £200 for the average size HDD, and then upto £500 for larger drives.

Also depends on what the faulty is, i.e. dodgy drive/faulty pcb.

I'm quite good at getting data back from drives using a few pieces of software, works well in drives that has bad sectors, multiple formats or lost volumes, managed to recover enough data for someone off a few hdds which have been the very clicky type. but full on machichinal failure yeah i have seen prices range from £150-£300+

the prices you have a fair, i have seen prices go up into thousands to reclaim data from fire damaged drives,

but i have also seen someone pull data off discs, using a seond hard drive to load the platters onto, just buy same make etc and swap over,

Certainly seems to be a market for it as I have had people nearly crying because they lost all their critical work or family pictures etc, its mainly what I'm doing these days rather than usual healthchecks and rebuilds. (This is on the side)
