DATA Recovery

we have been using ontrack easy recovery for some time now. it takes on average 2-4 days to do a format recovery. my question is, why does it take soooo long, is it because it takes that long to find and restore files, or would a powerfull pc speed it up noticably? if so, what needs to be good, cpu or ram?

its not using my system no, its at work. its a amd sempron 2.2GHz single core with 3gb ddr800 ram.

why was this moved to software? it was a general hardware question as to whether improving hardware would cut down recovery times.

thats ok, only reason i mentioned the software was so people using the same software with better hardware might give more details, or someone doing the same thing with different software on better build recovering in half the time would still indicate its probs hardware problem.
