In short my install is borked. Not even repairing it or fresh install will work. Iam hoping this is because one of my hard-drives in raid10 is down and broken, although still registers, says the array is degraded but is still bootable.
the hard-drive failure did not result in w7 being borked, but some sort of restart while already doing a restart to solve an other issue- can't remember how exactly!

Today I tried to fix things but repairing windows, installing over etc etc. In this process I formatted my apps partition, hoping this may help. Tomorow a new HDD is being purchased in hope that the degraded array is stopping things being repaired.

Is there any software I can use to bring back the formatted partition, and have all the software etc usable if Iam able to repair windows?

did you delete the partition or actually format it? if the former then its better news as the partition data is still there...so longas you have not been using the drive for anything?

I've used TestDisk before to recover a partition that I accidentally trashed.

Havnt used the partition or deleted. Let's hope the new HDD will make it able to repair windows!

since this is already here, to replace the hard-drive do I just remove the faulty one and plug in the new one?
