So upon deleting a partition tonight and installing a new OS I have realised theres a few bits I need off of the end of the drive thats just been formatted...

any ideas on what I can use to get at that info?

TestDisk and PhotoRec

TestDisk is an excellent suggestion, especially in the case of a formatted drive. It's not too friendly, or wasn't the last time I used it, but it's damn good
