Hi there, hope this is in the correct section.

I am going on a road trip across europe and I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions for mobile data for my Xoom. I was going to tether to my Desire HD as that has unlimited net but found out that there is a roaming charge for that.

My Xoom is wifi and 3G so what's the best way to have constant net on my Xoom? Wanted to use the sat nav as well as other stuff like business emails.

Possible suggestions for a cheap company that does a sim card or something along those lines?

Cheers

Honestly, it doesn't exist. Inside each country there is usually a cheap payg deal but not pan europe. Do not, ever, use data abroad unless you are prepared to pay 3 figures for a weeks worth. Stick to wifi at hotels / mcdonalds.

Ditto.
Expect to pay around £3/MB roaming costs. Voice and texts are reasonable now but the EU hasn't strongarmed networks over Data yet (seem to recall they may have capped the amount that a bill can go to though to save people from thousand pound bills)

edit:http://ec.europa.eu/information_society/activities/roaming/regulation/index_en.htm data roaming is capped at 50 euros in EU countries unless requested otherwise.

It also seems that if you are on the '3' network which operates in quite a few countries (Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Ireland, UK), you pay domestic rates.

Thanks for the replies folks, well that sucks then.

If I pay the 50 euros, I can then use free data roaming after that limit or do they just stop the connection?

Cheers
